How it works
Hours per year are hours per week × weeks worked. A full-time job at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 hours a year. Monthly pay is the yearly pay ÷ 12; biweekly pay is ÷ 26.
Example
$25 an hour at 40 hours a week is $1,000 a week, $2,000 every two weeks, about $4,333 a month and $52,000 a year. A quick rule of thumb: double the hourly rate and add three zeros.
Frequently asked questions
Should I count paid vacation?
If your vacation is paid, keep 52 weeks. If you are a contractor and take unpaid time off, lower the weeks worked.
